Eliot Symposium of Chairs
The purpose of this gathering of board and commission chairs has multiple intents. It
includes but is not limited to increasing overall awareness in terms of the important work
each board or commission is engaged in, encouraging cooperative efforts between
boards, enticing more citizen involvement and exploring needs of the community.
We all may agree that the modern pace is sometimes dizzying, a majority of people
have little time for anything beyond their passion. It is also imperative that we respect
people’s time, brief and succinct will be the objective for the day. We hope to offer
citizens a sample size of what the respective boards are working on and
encouragement to reach out to the individual chair, go online to view meetings or I dare
say, attend a meeting in person.
With this in mind, each board will be limited to an eight-to-ten-minute presentation with
three to five minutes for follow-up or additional information on where to seek more
content on the efforts of a board.
The meeting is a public meeting open to all, it will begin at 9 AM as an Eliot Select
Board Meeting, it will be presided over by the Select Board Chair. The symposium will
be recorded, available on Town Hall Streams live and PEG Access (Comcast) as a
delayed broadcast.

We appreciate everyone’s participation, patience, and cooperation. Hopefully this will
help citizens learn more about their town and, more importantly, more about the work and
function of boards and commissions.
We ask that any material to be projected or disseminated be delivered in a USB thumb
drive in a common and accessible format by February 25 to the Town
Manager’s Office. We will print limited material for this meeting, but would prefer not to
do so.
Please contact Town Manager msullivan@eliotme.gov or 207.451.1205 with any
questions, suggestions, or requests.
There will be no Zoom participation, but comments or questions can be sent to
respective board chairs or to bwidi@eliotme.gov (Chair Widi will forward to the
appropriate chair if requested).
Respectfully,
William Widi, Eliot Select Board Chair
